How Our Ukraine Adoption Began

This journey began in the summer of 2012, while sitting in our church during a teaching, God spoke to me and said "you need to travel with Mimi".....so I looked up- as I usually do when I feel God giving me direction and said in my head, "AHHHH, OK".  As you can imagine I had lots of questions, so I reached out to a couple of friends and told them what God told me to do...they were excited but also wondered where, when?

Mimi leads a ministry in Panama that teaches teachers all about the Holocaust so I assumed we would be going to Panama, immediately I said to myself, do I need to learn Spanish??? Oh boy, not my most favorite thing to do, learn another language...
I decided not to share this yet with Mimi because I was still trying to figure out what was going on and where we were going and I also had dinner plans with her that following Monday, so I thought ....ok I will go to dinner and tell her what God told me, BUT not until she tells me what God told her.  ( oh .....u may be asking how would I know God spoke to her as well....Mimi happened to tell a family member about the travel God told her about and that he put my face in her head and that I should go with her on this adventure.  So Monday came, and I was very excited to share with her that God spoke to me and wants us to travel together.  At this point I really did not know where we were going, I just knew we were traveling together... I picked her up and off we went.  When we got to the restaurant Mimi said I have something to ask you, and I was YESSSSSS, she said God wants me to travel somewhere and he put you in my head and I believe he wants you to come with me, I said " I know, he told me last week"  So we discussed what God told me while she was teaching that day and I told her I am ready to go, of course I needed to know where we were going first.  She said we are going to the Ukraine... The Ukraine....Why are we going to the Ukraine... I never thought I would be going there, but when God says go--- YOU GO!

Within 2 weeks we were off to the Ukraine..  It was wonderful.. the people we met love the Lord and are hospitable and giving and so-so awesome.
